That's only because you're unfamiliar with them and the same basic lump stayed in production so long (a sign of how good it was in the first place) that there were developments to the engines along the way. to be fair though i am a mod mechanic so i think i know how to build and engine and the fact that the thing is spuidly desiged has nothing makes it very difficult to work on, like the fack it dosnt have a single timing make on it and the fact you have to set the oil pump in to correct posistion to get the ignition timing right now that is bloody stupid

after all the hassel i've had with my alfa lump i woundnt recomend them to anyone, nothing makes any sence and bits from 2 of the same type of car dont seem to be interchangable

what would you 4 door haters do if you lived in australia where the rs2000 were mainly 4 door?

god its like a bunch of old ladys bickering, cant you all play nice? i'm going to have to agree with antz why the hell ruin a perfectly good 4 door escort to make a 2 door the number of doors dosnt effect how the car drive or what shiny bits you can bolt to it, it obvously just effects how much of a snob you are, and yes i do own 2 2 door mk1 escort but i have owned 4 doors and loved them so much more pratical and i have always regrestted getting rid of my 4 door

its funny how all the people that say somethings crap shut up after a few people say they like it

as it was originaly fitted with rivited plates i'd go for them, and you dont see many cars with rivited plates now so it would be nice to be a bit different

thats is a common problem on mk1's its caused by mainy different things from worn bushes to stiffer suspention or rough roads, all you can do is get a new mount and mount bushes, idealy you need to add some strenghtaning to the mount before fitting it

personaly i quite like it, its different. the arches do look a bit odd yess but they also look good on the car and appear to of been fitted well although the car could do with being a little lower to make them look really good. as for front wheel drive why not look what they have got by using what is probably the front of a fiesta, a nice reliable and powerfull zetec engine, a five speed gearbox, a steering rack, better front suspention, and of course easier sorced and cheaper spares and most likly a 100e that handles better than any other 100e

it like listening to a bunch of old women reading this if you dont like the fact top gear smash up cars dont watch it simple, the evo although it looked a nice enough car it had been ordered to be crushed so why not do something usefull with it first? it helped show the capablitys of our miltary vehicles which to be fair would of destroyed that evo within seconds of spotting it. i dont see any of you complaining when a rally or race car gets stuffed its no different and some of those are very rare.

i have just fitted me wilwood calipers and green stuff pads to my escort which work superbly apart form the worst squeal i've ever heard from brakes, i have copper sliped the back of the pads, dose anyone know why there squealing so bad? is it just because i've only done a few miles on them and the squeal will go as the bed in?
