oldbus Posted December 4, 2007 Report Posted December 4, 2007 If any one needs a good excuse to get away for a few days then i would like to recommend a classic car meet that we go to every year. It is in Lobbach (never heard of it, neither had i, and i´ve lived over hear for twenty years) Its a tiny village near Heidelberg in Germany. It´s organised by a local classic car club, http://www.oldtimerfreunde-lobbachtal.de/ a great bunch of lads who create a fantastic laid back atmosphere... What used to be a Ford only meet has been liberalised into a bring whatever you fancy type of weekend but the majority of cars are Fords from the sixties and seventies. The Ford scene (god i hate that word) is nothing compared to that in the UK. There are several small regional meets around the country but nothing i would recommend. I go to one or two local ones but only if the weather is good and only because they´re round the corner. This one is different. It´s not only a beautifull part of the country, there´s plenty to do if you want to stay for a few days. The Technikmuseum in Sinsheim and the other one in Speyer are just around the corner! We drive down on the Friday afternoon, get everything set up and get the BBQ going. Saturday the place fills up and is a really good mixture from rot & grott up to best of shows..... You can either bring your on food/ drink or be spoilt by the on site food and beer! The Sunday fills up with lots of day visitors with plenty of variety (not just Ford) and we normally stay over and go and visit one of the Museums on Monday All in all well worth the effort and probably the only Ford meet here that´s worth it. Hope you like the pics.. If anyone does fancy an unofficial OSF trip over i´d be happy to organise this end of things. We´ll be there anyway (it´s normally end of July) There is definately loads of room for a few Escorts, Cortinas and Capris!
