Loving the duratec hype in this months mag chaps . Shame i haven't got £20,000 spare for a 300 bhp 2 litre install for my new MK1 cortina project

When do you guys reckon your cosworth duratec cortina will be ready then ? Not 2008 then but maybe 2009 ? Still only the 1 modified duratec street car about after all these years so hurry up as we want to see what they go like

Ickys mk2 should be finished early next year I would have thought Gaz, that made 260(something) on Joe's dyno at bluesprint on a standard mondeo manifold, so should be plenty more to come I would think.

And before you ask, Ive no idea of spec or cost so far.

I think the cost is around £8k mate, but dont quote me on that.

Thats an all steel jobby though. It should make the magic 300bhp figure with the proper manifold on it and some more mapping

I will be flat out on it in january in my garage and will post updates on here when i can

yes Ickys will be the best one yet for sure  . I don't know how much power it will make on Torque of the Devils dyno-dynamics rolling road though , definately never get near 300 bhp on that as most 400+ bhp turbos don't !!!!!!:lol::lol: . The best ever 4 pot engine on their dyno is a 2.4ish litre E30 M3 trackday car which has all the trick bits , revs to 9000+ rpm and has massssssoooovie compression , that made 250 bhp so just over 100 bhp a litre

Yes he has Jon,ive seen it

Only problem is where to put the lamda boss on it,may have to go in the collector part where it goes into the single 3" part. Will have to offer it up on the car and see where it can go

It needs to go after all the pipes have merged and about 6-8 inches downstream of that

No room for that then as its really short, would have to go in the system

Ok mate i see your problem . You don't really need one anyway , i put one in mine and Chris didn't even use it . He just uses a pipe thingy up the exhaust box instead . He mapped mine so it was slightly rich and this is better for the engine but they make more power when lean . Lean engines can be very dangerous to the wallet at high rpms though , expecially when the pistons melt on a long straight !!!!!!!!:shock::shock:

Anyway talking of duratecs , my mates garage have just turbocharged a 2 litre one in a new fiesta . It's gone from 140bhp to 210 bhp running on a peak 10 psi of boost which levels off at 6 psi to stop it pinking . Now the "hype" suggests that a 2 litre duratec can make 230+bhp just by changing the cams and nothing else so this "hype" is a tad optimistic then would you say , or most rolling roads are telling porkies !!!!!!
