Rick Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 right, i wanted to swap the flange on the end of my propshaft for the larger one so that it will marry up to my diff. one prop is the peened over UJ type and one is the circlip type. thing is i didnt realise until id taken them off that the cups with the bearings in are different, therefore i cant swap them over. so my question is: is it possible to buy a UJ that has small joints on the propshaft end and has the larger joints on the flange end so that i can fit the larger flange. below is a pic of what i need (if they exist)
mr shag Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 hi rick would it be easier to change the flange on the diff instead of the prop
Rick Posted January 1, 2008 Author Report Posted January 1, 2008 probably but iv never seen a diff with the small flange too late now anyway im starting to think now if its just easier to buy the small UJ and the weld the small joining eyes onto the large flange using a beefy wleder.
32 HI-BOY Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 A better method would be to cut the whole end of the propshaft off on each prop, then weld the one you want onto the prop you are going to use. Just make sure you use a fillet piece inside to ensure it all lines up
emu Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 A better idea would be to get a properly made and balance propshaft. You dont really want the prop failing. Its more than capable of ripping through the bodyshell and you.

escort21 Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 Give Recoprop in Luton a call, they'll sell you the correct flange end with the correct size bearing cups , there are three different size flanges...
sierra1off Posted January 1, 2008 Report Posted January 1, 2008 I can recomend J.W.engineering in barnehurst kent, 01322 556554, for propshafts, balancing, diffs, etc. Dont touch Dyno Prop in harold Wood Essex.
