bmxdave Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 OK i finally got my arse into gear to sort my xbox live out. Theres no chance in hell im paying the money required for wireless as itd mean buying the whole system, and thats money better spent on wheels or go faster bits. So i went to get an ethernet cable thingy. I then realised i didnt know if its the big or little type cable. So i need some questions sorted. Does it just look like a big phone cable? Does it have to be a specific one, or will any type do i.e. are they all the same? ( I tried the one that came in the box but thats long been lost). Is it easy to set up on my PC? Im on Vista so im worried it might take a hissyfit and shit its guts everywhere like vista normally does.
bmxdave Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 Do i need one of those crossover ethernet cables?
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted January 8, 2008 Report Posted January 8, 2008 To keep it simple, you need what is called an RJ45 cat 5 ethernet crossover cable (thats if you are connecting it directly to your PC *edit* BTW, the Xbox was primarily designed to work and interact with Windows Vista, so it will work. I am not sure about setting up though. I have Vista but the PC I use all the time is XP and my Xbox runs through a network. As I said, they are designed to work together, so just do a google on it, or search Microsoft. I am sure it will be covered in depth. Hope this helps you
bmxdave Posted January 8, 2008 Author Report Posted January 8, 2008 Thank you! I just needed to be sure. Im hooking it straight up and sharing with my pc. I did a search before but nothing told me what cable to use although i did find the way to set up the xbox. Hopefully ill be on there tonight!
