I've been searching for the history of my car for a long time now, and today i managed to get in touch with the guy who used to rally my car!!!

Seems it used to be a bit of a mover... he has shown me some of the results from events he done...

Roger Albert Clark 2006

1st in class Buldog rally

1st in class on a modern event (cant remember name) against things like rwd subaru's, focus' etc

3x Ypres rally in Belgium

Manx National Rally

East Anglian Classic

.... and loads more

Loads of stories from all of them

Its great when you can find out the history of your car... :ykt:

Any one have any cool stuff bout their cars???

If you do find it it would be great to see

I suppose there are good and bad points bout owning something like it. Obviously u have extra wear and tear on something like that, so its def no concourse car!!!

If all goes to plan i'm going to aim to compete in the Essex Charity Stages in the summer. It'll be my first stage rally, but i've done test days and it performs pretty well off the road as well... and the big plus is the lack of trees on the charity stages!!!

at least you know the car can take it,bull dog is a tough rally and when it done the RAC am sure it only done the clubman event, which was 1 day but it was in scotish forest

Yeah it only did the scotish forrests and it didnt finish as it retired with ignition problems..

Any plans to rally your mex tim?? I will be doing some road rallys after summer as i cant afford to compete in stage events too often!!! with £500 entry fees for gravel i dont think many people can!! especially not me being in education still!!!

Posted

lookin to do a few tours and day time road rallys once it back togther. cant afford to go full on stage or single venue rallyin.

Historic Rally Car Registar do some good events

Posted

well i may see you out on a few road rallys then!!!

Yeah i looked at HCRC events, but arent they all National A License this year??? so need to top up my license with a few more course signitures yet

I'm def up for doing 'The Preston' road rally next december... problem is finding a navigator for it

the stage stuff is but there a clubman championship which is daylight road rallys but your car you might have 2 de spec it abit due to some of the rules or there the 100 championship

Yeah that is a good idea, think i may have a go at a couple of the Clubman's events closer to home, cheers Tim

I think by changing the carbs on the car then that brings it into line with regulations, although will have to check more throughly.

 navigating.. me?? i find it hard enough getting to the ace from the M25!!!

i can say from your avatar you would have 2 lose the spot lights, door squares to do most HRCR stuff,as they dont want the cars 2 look like rally cars

But I Like My Lights.. ... (although the police aren't too impressed by them)

I've heard of other organisers restricting stuff like that, but didn't know they did..

For The Historic Rally Car Register to not want their cars to look like rally cars seems a strange rule.. but yeah thats wot it says on their website..

all down to PR,they get less people moaning when these types of cars compete than when cars with spot lights, twin carbs etc compete

Its a strange concept to me, complaining about an escort going sideways through a forest on full chat causing people to complain!!

Respect the Heritage!!!

Well if thats the rules then thats wot we must play by. I suppose i can see their point if its going through a village, but only from a noise issue, which is a standard regulation anyway.

So when do you recon you'll have the mex on the road by?? Are you planning to do any events this year??

nar the clubman champ isnt a forest rally, its a road rally all on public road with an average speed of 30mph with timed tests on private land.

the HRCR run many different series from 12 cars right up to full rallys.

my first event is the lakes tour in early may

Yeah I realise the difference, was just saying i dont understand, IMO rally cars can create negative PR by having a few extra lights on them..

Still should be a good fun summer if all goes to plan and thats a big if.

Thanks for letting me know bout those two champiosnhips. Be a good way to get a bit of practice in and compete at the same time!

its people perception of them, rally cars= fast driving, loud, noisey

no lights there just normal classic cars out for a sunday drive
