Rick Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 whats the best way to do this, as im a bit paranoid about this kind of thing since my last experience on the road with no brakes this being an older car i trust it less. is there a special kind of sensor/switch to do this?
Savvi Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 If you find a switch built into a modern type cap that fits your resevoir its easy.I belive the later Mk2 Escort / Fiesta had these ? Connect one side of a bulb to a ignition live then take one of the switch wires back to the bulb and earth the other ................if and when the fluid level goes down the connections are made bringing on the warning light / bulb.
Rick Posted January 12, 2008 Author Report Posted January 12, 2008 thats give me an idea i might just make one now. a miniature float and two contacts
Guest cortinamad-gonetoo Posted January 12, 2008 Report Posted January 12, 2008 good idea if your paranoid
mitomad Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 i kno the rover metro had the switch for the light in the cap but i dont know if it will fit
toad650 Posted January 13, 2008 Report Posted January 13, 2008 the MK3 capri's cap already has it, mine burst the brake line on the axle at an MOT once one the way home the hand brake light kept flashing, found out a few mins later NO BRAKES. When the level gets low the handbrake light flashes
