Mark2Mark Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Ok so i have an anglia with a 1660 x flow, it has a tri cored rad with a kenlowe fan i have flushed the cooling system and replaced the stat, it chucked it's water out a couple of weeks ago so today i drained the water to put some anti freeze in as it's getting cooler. took it for a run about 40-50 miles with no problems, got home it was ticking over for about 5 mins with the cooling fan and the heaters on then for no reason the temp was normal just boiled over and chucked all the new anti freeze out Any ideas?
Tom Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 is the fan blowing the right way mate? that'd be the first thing i'd check. head gasket?
Mark2Mark Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 Yeah the fan is blowing the right way Don't say head gasket
johnny_h Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 Where's all the steam/water coming from when it unloads?
Mark2Mark Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 Well before when it did it, it blew one of the pipes off the heater but this time it seemed to be coming from the bottom of the rad. I waited until it cooled down filled it back up and there were no leaks so i don't know
bomber1 Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 have u got some sort of pressure relive valve under the rad as that is what happend to my dads thames pickup after 2hrs on the motorway. 1957 1100 sidevalve 3speed box & top speed of 30mph we let it cool down toped it up and it was fine
Mr Sam Posted November 4, 2006 Report Posted November 4, 2006 mine was well dodgy nearly overheated bigtime stuck in traffic......fan had stopped working so swaped it for a larger fan and put it on a manual switch added some antifreeze and a new thermostat, all's fine since then
Mark2Mark Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 could just be a knackered rad cap Really!? Would it make much difference? The one that is on seems ok the spring seems strong.
Mark2Mark Posted November 4, 2006 Author Report Posted November 4, 2006 WOOHOO! I'll get one and try it, i've tried everything else!
