CapperTom Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 Hi, My pinto wont start, its got fuel at the twin carbs and theres a spark on all plugs but it just wont even try too fire. could it be an earth or would it not spark? what about timing because i took my dizzy out for rebuild but didnt mark it so not sure if it went in right. Does anyone know how too insert 1 for the first time. Any help please. Cheers Tom
capriclive Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 could be the timing then. get the bottom pulley mark lined up with the pointer. rotor arm should point at the notch on the top of dizzy (no1 lead). if it doesnt then timing is wrong. remove dizzy and replace making sure mark lines up with rotor arm. when putting dizzy back you have to turn the spindle slightly as it turns when it drops in.
Muttley MK2 Posted January 23, 2008 Report Posted January 23, 2008 You dont get a notch on the autolite dizzy (black cap) so if you have one of these then time up on tdc and then follow no1 plug lead to the cap and mark the dizzy body to line up with the plug lead. When you put the dizzy in remember it will rotate a little when it engages the gear!
