Aaaaargh!!!

I've just stripped some of the thread on the union where brake pipe meets calliper. Now it wont nudge right up.

Does anyone have any suggestions for a temporary fix?

Or is there anyone near Tring, Hertfordshire with a spare drivers side M16 calliper, that they could drop by? I will cover cost of part and fuel, of course. And owe you a massive favour.

As you might know, this car is our one and only daily driver, so you're really helping me out of a tight spot!

Cheers,

Jim

Yeah.....I'm with you on that....I'm just desperate for decent ideas.

Hopefully someone near by will see this and be able to bail me out.

try swapping the bleed nipple and pipe union positions over this might work as the bleed nipple has more thread on it and will screw into the caliper further and hopefully into the undamaged part of the thread

Sorted-ish!

One I stopped panicking, I realised that the brass union nut was softer than the steel calliper, so that's where the reading was likely to have been. Put a new union on and re-flared the pipe. Job done!

Brakes are still a bit soft, but I think that I just need to bleed them a bit more. That will have to wait until in the week.

Am I right in thinking that if my brake fluid reservoir is split in two compartments (like Fast Eddy's, below), one is for the front and one is for rear?
