escortmad79 Posted February 4, 2008 Report Posted February 4, 2008 The white mk1 Escort that I owned was purchased from a specialist RS garage (That's not longer open as the owner has died) by me on the understanding that it was to be repaired & MOT'd. He did the repair work & took it to the MOT station down the road who issued it with an MOT certificate. After a few months of owning the car things started going wrong & bits started dropping off so on a hunch I took it to another MOT station for a retest & they failed it on 14 items (At the time that was half the MOT!!) which had been passed as ok a few months previous! Needless to say the Escort went back to the garage I bought it from & after a threat of trading standards I received a full refund on what I paid for the car! Another MOT station/garage buggered up the brakes on my blue Mk1 too, if it wasn't for them I'd probably still have that car now!!
