285Andy Posted March 15, 2008 Report Posted March 15, 2008 ive done it. was real easy although im not exactly welder shy (got a few years under my belt lol) all thats needed is the original spring saddles cutting off the 105e caseing and new ones (available from rally design at 6 quid each) welding into place. way i did it was to remove the 100e axle and position the saddles on the leaf springs and drop the 105e axle case on the top to get the correct orientation and equal from side to side, then tack the saddles, remove the axle then fully weld them into place. while i was there, i also fitted escort anti tramp bars and a modified escort panard rod just for the hell of it

Do they take normal escort diffs too? nice avatar and yes i believe its the general way to go when your putting more power in a 100e i thought yours had a 2.1 pinto? surely it allready has a 105e axel?

I just blew my second diff up and im after wider wheels so i thought why not kill two birds with one shotgun and stick a slipper in a 105e axle. Its got a mk1 cortina gt axle and its just not up to the job so far, i was only doing a standing start. I was being as gentle as you can be when pulling away fast but ive managed to kill two diffs doing it. I think ill have to get someone to do the welding for me, i can weld but i wouldnt trust it on such an important part. I might look into 4 linking it while im at it Yeah, its a shame you cant see the avatar properly though being so small, if you know what it is you can tell though
285Andy Posted March 16, 2008 Report Posted March 16, 2008 how about if your worried about welding it yourself, why not just get the axle in position and the saddles tacked in place then just seek a pro welder who you can take the axle case too and get them to finish off the welding! job done

So i think ill drive the car down to there, strip it down, let him do the welding and then put it back together myself Im just going to fit a normal diff for now and save up for a 105e axle and slipper.
