bortaf Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Cheapest way to run a fridge is on gas, or possably a compresser 12V fridge but they are heavy on batterys and bloody expensive i got a 3KVA petrol genny from Macro last year £110 on special offer run me mates sound system but we need 2 of em when he runs the bass bins at full tis a bit noisy though
Savvi Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Keep the car battery top up as well !!! Mine has 12volt socket. He has loads of stuff i went to pick mine up from him, had a massive garage in his back garden then (i ended up buying loads) but has since moved back to a warehouse he also used to have a fleet of vans going round selling to the trade, the kipor models he is the dealer for and gives full warranty etc. Good bloke one of my brother-in-laws mate knows his stuff and ships these things abroad to the third world for the likes of the red cross !!!

pauln Posted April 8, 2008 Report Posted April 8, 2008 Thats the one i am thinking of getting Lee, just wanted someone in the know to pass judgement on it same has look's o.k to me so can pauln explaine the jargin please or any-one anouther daft question it say's 230 volt i thought carvan's ect were 240 volt has you can plug straight in to the electric at home, would this still run 240 volt stuff The gennys we use at work are 4hp engined honda ones with decent alternators on then and have been totally reliable for years but i would not want to pass judgement on how long some of the cheap ones would last. With regard to the voltage there is a required standard that is changing it will end up (in line with europe) at 230V plus or minus (i think) 10% 240v is just a guide figure (in my house it normally about 225V which is within the regulation limits). You can plug the genny into the van in the same way as you would plug in the mains.
