I'm needing some help with an application form for a really great job. I'm applying for a job as a Criminal Intelligence Analyst and I've to answer the ever so popular question of "Why are you applying for this role?"

I think my brain has fried with all this uni work and cant think of a good answer. Any ideas?

"Having an analytical and methodic thought process to many differing situations, i feel that this position would allow me to utilise these skills and allow me to rise to the challenge of a new role. This coupled with my desire to learn and further myself would ensure a mutual benefit for both parties"

Or something like that

Its my main qualification that could prove to be a problem. They're only looking for an HND and i'll be applying with an honours degree in forensics. Its a £20k job so maybe the degree could prove to be an advantage. I'll just go for it, they can only turn me down. That means in the last 2 weeks i've applied for 47 jobs  The closing dates for all the jobs are the end of the month so wish me luck. lol.

The old 'im applying for this job because if you dont give it to me ill burn your house down' approach might work?

I know I might be being a bit harsh and there's no offence intended, but if you don't know why, then is the job what you really want to do?

Hmmm  possibly not... I think Michelle is looking for an inspirational good line for all future applications

I had this at an interview yesterday, for my degree we have to work in industry for a year.

they were a bit concerned why a person studying motorsport would apply for a job designing and analyzing replacement hip, knee and spine parts

i just had a think about what interested me about the place and went from there.

the hardest question is describing yourself as this is to see if you can sell yourself. have a think about it and get it down on paper - but dont make it look rehearsed! its a common one in interviews so be careful

and good luck

personally i hate interviews, its stressful and hard to sell yourself under pressure. I can turn my hand to so many things and have good qualifications too but flounder at interviews.

good luck and be prepared, just hope you dont get 47 interviews in 2 weeks...:lol::lol: else youl be quite busy

I used to be a recruitment consultant and I know all the classic answers for this question so I know what not to write. This is a job I really want and after filling out 46 other application forms I wanted someone else to give me idea's on how to write the answer in a different way. Bearing in mind i wil be fighting against 1000's of other graduates for this position so the answer needs to be spot on :D

Thanks for all the words of support

Interviews have never ever phased me until I went for my first graduate interview at the beginning of the year. All the other candidates are of the highest calibre and I realise now i'm gonna have to fight extra hard if I want a good job.
