zetecmk2 Posted April 21, 2008 Report Posted April 21, 2008 my alt light came on, yesterday! i had a look and the housing had cracked!!! i held it together with 3 h/d zip ties (keeping in character with the rest of my engine bay) changed alt tonight for one i got off kooltina's doner. i've got a multi v belt so had to change the pulley . obviously siezed but got it off!! diffrent diameter spindle made a spacer out of alloy sheet and an airgun it worked!!! went to put alt on and its longer than the old one!! the coil pack was in the way!! had to make up a bracket that held the coil pack 2" further back so i could see if the alt would fit! obviously it didn't ground the spacers out and turned the housing through 120 deg. bolted it in and started the car. the alt light went out!!!! honestly, the shit you have to do when it's your everyday drive!!
