MK5 Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 i was into Jap performance, and was driving a heavily modified MK3 Supra. My ex bought a 2 door MK5 Cortina off Ebay because he "had always wanted one" He drove her twice and decided he hated her. I asked to take her out (I had to pester in fact) and he told me I wouldn't like her. How wrong he was. I swapped the Supra for the Cortina!! I bought Nina shortly after and when we split up I could only take one car, so I chose Nina, even though by this time I'd heavily modified the 2 door.

D4N Posted May 5, 2008 Report Posted May 5, 2008 i got into the old fords from my dad at a very young age. My dad has been rallying through the later 70s 80s 90s and still rallying and there is LOADS of pics of him in mk1 & mk2 escorts. Him telling me the stories of him down the lanes on the road rallys and in the forests on the stages in his escorts just got me into it. and... they look better than moden cars
atomic-cortina Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 My dad always modified them when they were only a few years old. About 5 years ago as a way to kind of re-live his youth, he bought the grey 2 door and then the Estate about 3 years ago. I just instantly caught the bug for some reason and now want an Anglia as my first car!! I wouldn't have anything else!!!
Gonzo Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 My fixation is ALL Sambo's fault! ...Mostly. I only really got into OSF's after helping Sambo with The Black Beast most weekends of the summer. I can remember spending about 2 hours with a hairdryer and my thumbnail picking off the gold GT stripe before he got it resprayed... Before that, it was my old man's old cars. He had a mk3 1600 cortina in tan with beige wings and a mk2 escort in silver with a knackered head. Both 4-doors with square lights. Loved both of those cars, and the mk1 fester he had before he got the escort. Some daft old cow wrote that off though. Driving in thick fog with her lights off and sideswiped him.
Messenjah Posted May 7, 2008 Report Posted May 7, 2008 i blame my dad for watching the professionals when i was younger he di dmake some comment about how it was funny that the first car i bought was a strato silver S and my surname is Boyle .... told me to find a m8 called dodie
