MM77 Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 I have a PCIe card which I want to use on a laptop. Is there some kind of firewire/usb/pcmcia adapter I can buy to do this?? I've searched google (a bit) but no joy so far.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 What does the card do mate... is it a graphics card? As far as i'm aware, PCIe (Peripheral Component Interface express) is a faster more updated version of the standard PCI architecture which can be found in desktop PC's. If you could tell me what the card is, or what it's supposed to do, perhaps I can be more help

The card hosts audio plugins to take the load off the CPU. It is not a sound card or graphics/video card. And it can only be used with plugins from the same manufacturer (ie you cant just load anything you like onto it). So basically I have this card which i've bought and intend to use with my desktop PC (which has PCIe) when it arrives. But in the meantime i'm wanting to use it on my laptop also. PS: Yep you're spot on re your description of PCIe
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted May 12, 2008 Report Posted May 12, 2008 I forgot to ask... is it an internal desktop PCIe card? If it is, there is nothing you can do to fit it to a laptop unfortunatley... well unless you have a docking station for the laptop which will support the PCIe card, but I haven't seen a docking station for years. Best bet is to wait for your desktop to arrive
