MK3 Cortina & K&N airfilter

Hello I have a mk3 cortina 2000, will adding a K&n air filter add much difference to the horsepower and will it make a diiference in the acceleration......? Also by adding a K&N air filter will it increase the fuel consumption drastically ?

No, it will not increase the acceleration... but it will sound like it!

 

No it will not increase the fuel consumption... apart from the fact you will floor it more cos of the lovely induction noise

It will make it breath more easyly but to make the absolute best of it you really need to have the carb tweeked to match the increased airflow

For a cheap mod simply remove the noise pipe from the origional airbox (the bit that sticks out over the EX manifold), it will sound like a you have a K&N and will give only a marginly smaller increase in power, Vizard recond this mod to be worth 2-3 BHP, i do this but replace the noise pipe with a longer bigger diametre pipe to pick up cold air from the front pannel (like a sierra carb has) a much better mod than a K&N that will suck in hot air from the bay and actually loose you power on hot days
