any ideas on strange noise

hi all just wondered if anyone has a idea what my car is doing

 

sometimes (not always) between 20-55 mph it makes a whirling sort of noise its not the engine because the car has to be moving its like something is catching somwhere think its front but just cant see what or where cant spin the wheels fast enough when i jack it up just puzzleing me help

dose it do it when you have been drinking or not drinking

 

have you tryed it with smaller wheels on it , cause your wheels are big

turn the radio up, that'll cure it!! Does the car shake at that speed?? Check your tyres, one maybe deformed, either that or a wheel bearing, or diff noise???

Checked the gear oil level recently? or diff oil level.

check the alt fan isn't loose or one of the vains bent

yep checked them not that

its nothing from the engine and it doesnt start till about 20 mph

have u checked uyre pads ?

ive decided im gonna grease up the wheel bearings if it still does it replace them

 

its only after somthings got warm

 

yes pads are ok

 

i cant see anything out of place theres no play in the bearings but i cant think what else

I don't know if it's because of the suspension set-up in the Cortinas, but the wheel bearings make a very weird noise when theyre on the way out. Double check them to see if they're ok

cheers it is a very strange noise but like i say interminant so its prooving hard to pin point
