Anyone clued up on autoboxes?

Just picked up this little beut....

 

 

I know it´s not OSF enough but it´s engine will be

 

 

The previous owner hasn´t had kickdown for a while and it´s lost all forward gears. Reverse is ok, gearbox oil is full and doesn´t smell burnt...

 

any one got any ideas or is it just fooked?

The speed sensor i think can stop overdrive working ? but as for the rest count me out dont forget that "this" A4LD auto box is common only to the rear of the BOA lump (inc. torque converter).

Could try flushing the box with flushing oil. Debris gets caught in the oilways and stops the gears working. I had a scorpio that had that trouble with reverse.

Not to worry, i hadn´t planned putting it back on the road, only bought it for the engine anyway.

 

Anyone know, if the 2,8 autoboxes are the same?

 

If they are that could explain why they´re not up to the job.
