FlashCadillac Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 did ford ever do it as an option in the mk2 escort on any of the crossflow models??
over_head_cam Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 Do you mean a twin choke or like a twin 40? Twinchokes came on sports, ghias and harriers I think
RWDmad Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 twin choke carbs came on 1300 and 1600 ghias and sports....... or are you on about twin carbs?
FlashCadillac Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 twin carbs.... im putting the lynx manifold on the new engine in the escort and the trumpet wants to be in the same space the brake resovoir is.... its becoming a right ball ach looking into relocating the resovoir but using the originl master cylinder changing it to a bias pedal box just isnt an option
over_head_cam Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 A bit of the right hose and bobs your uncle Flash
FlashCadillac Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 spoke to burton today.... about three different people there... one of them was helpfull got a new resovoir and a length of braded brake hose, couple of brass nipples and im going to tap the inlets to the master cylinder.... dont quite know how im going to fasten it to the resovoir though.... i see me borrowing some more jubalee clips from work the reason behind this thread was just to see how ford did it if they ever did...should have some pics very soon.... the engine looks cool as, all nice a shiney with the new webber
over_head_cam Posted June 9, 2008 Report Posted June 9, 2008 I can only guess that you're using a single 40 on a lynx manifold Flash (sidedraught)
FlashCadillac Posted June 9, 2008 Author Report Posted June 9, 2008 I can only guess that you're using a single 40 on a lynx manifold Flash (sidedraught) yup... did mention the lynx earlier
razersedge Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 why not put the standard master cycliner and use a rover p6 remote servo and only use one port on the master cyclineder and link all the brakes to one pipe like the mk1 or just put the servo on the front brakes. Mk 1's with a remote servo will stop on a six pence
FlashCadillac Posted June 10, 2008 Author Report Posted June 10, 2008 Because i needed it done for thursday, needed a quick fix. Lol
4 door escort Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 sorry if it's been mentioned already, but why is the bias pedal box not an option?
morcheen Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 spoke to burton today.... about three different people there... one of them was helpfull just about the time you where talking to someone at burtons,i was there buying a secondhand single 40 x-flow manifold, the type that misses the servo from the bottom to the top the manifold measures * 6 1/2" it has no makers name on it ,just the numbers 4201 between the web where the carb bolts on.who else made them apart from lynx
FlashCadillac Posted June 10, 2008 Author Report Posted June 10, 2008 sorry if it's been mentioned already, but why is the bias pedal box not an option? how many reasons do you want? theyre too expencive its not a rally car i dont want the resovirs in the car i need it done for friday .... spoke to burton today.... about three different people there... one of them was helpfull just about the time you where talking to someone at burtons,i was there buying a secondhand single 40 x-flow manifold, the type that misses the servo from the bottom to the top the manifold measures * 6 1/2" it has no makers name on it ,just the numbers 4201 between the web where the carb bolts on.who else made them apart from lynx for a xflow? i didnt know anyone made one other than lynx mine doesnt have a servo... its the resoivoir and the manifold will have to be shorter than that to miss it. mine measures 117mm from block to carb.... if yours is 6.5 inch... about 160mm your going to need a hole in your inner wing to get the carb through it mate
morcheen Posted June 10, 2008 Report Posted June 10, 2008 mine measures 117mm from block to carb.... if yours is 6.5 inch... about 160mm your going to need a hole in your inner wing to get the carb through it mate Shocked i'm measuring the other way, from top to bottom,so you can guage how far up it lifts the carb.it measures 107mm the other way ,or left to right ,if you understand i have not seen this type before either
morcheen Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 did you ever get round to measuring the difference in height? so mine gives me 10mm more space to the inner wing than the lynx type, still not a lot of room
FlashCadillac Posted June 19, 2008 Author Report Posted June 19, 2008 look at one of my other threads mate, there is some pics up, not much room at all never did measure it
morcheen Posted June 19, 2008 Report Posted June 19, 2008 seen it earlier, and was thinking how much extra room my type manifold might give over your lynx one.not sure it will have enough to run a filter, maybe just some mesh type covers as long as yours don't hit the inner wing it's ok
