rev limiters

what do people have on there cars rev limit wise?

 

im thinking about getting one and all i know so far is it would have to be a soft cut so it just bounces off the limit rather than killing everything for a second or 2 like i think the hard cut ones are (i think thats right yeh?)

 

what are reccomendations etc

I think hard cut cut's all spark to kill the engine dead at those revs.

Soft cut does the same but gradually. It kicks in like 500 rpm earlier.

 

Ive got an Omex jobby with the red light. Works a treat but ive found it keeps resetting itself at 6000rpm. Im going to fit a switch on the earth to switch it off if needs be, to save me resetting it all the time and i can rev to what i want then. I only like having it there incase of wheelspins and burnouts so it doesnt do silly revs and go pop.

hard cut is King scary sometimes!! my mate was overtakin in his clio, which is hard cut and he hit the limit and the engine just cut out and we wer left stuck along side another car on the wrong side of the road, it was only for a moment but still

urely cutting the ignition when ur flat out is gonna make sum massive flameage when it comes back on again!

I do that all the time in my Toymota, can be scarey, especially if you didn't leave yourself much room and there's a car coming towards you . The worst part about hitting the limiter is losing momentum.
