As above really guys as i have a set of disc brake legs removed from a 1973 MK1 Escort Estate and one caliper is missing so i just wanted to know if the M16 Calipers bolt straight onto them.

They have the bolt on steering arms but one is also missing does anyone also know if the bolt on arms will be the same as the ones currently on my drum brake legs and also can i use my current brake hoses or will i need new ones?

The one other thing is will the legs fit straight on as thats what i have already been told by a few people but just wanted to check first before i start the job

Any help would be much appreciated guys

Not 100% sure if the callipers fit, but more than likely.

Steering arms almost certainly won't, measure the distance between bolt holes and compare.

Hose will be OK if in tip top condition, but a good opportunity to fit Goodridge hoses.

Legs should be a straigt swap.

To the best of my knowledge the only legs fitted to standard Mk1 Escorts with disc brakes had cast in steering arms. The ones with bolt on steering arms (disc braked) were RS legs. The other place they came from was Capris. As they are off an Estate I am not so sure, but if I had to bet, I would put a lot of money on the drum braked steering arms not fitting. The bolt holes are a different spacing. Having said that, there are very rare cases of them being the same. Which is why I said measure the spacing.

If you already have one calliper, is that not an M16 calliper? If it is, I very much suspect they will bolt straight on. It might be a P16 though, which was the imperial equivalent. I expect the bolt spacing on them is the same, so I expect they will fit. I am not 100% sure though.

Your flexi hoses will be OK if they are in good condition. They have imperial fittings though, so the solid pipe from the flexi to the calliper will have to have an imperial fitting to the flexi and a metric fitting to the calliper (if you use M16s).

Other than that the leg will fit straight on.

Is that enough info? :D
