Rick Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 how do some of you manage to keep your cars looking so superbly clean AND use them? i try keep on top of it (mainly the outside) but christ keeping an engine bay looking clean is nigh on impossible with little oil leaks, flies blended and blasted all over the place my the fan, dried rainwater... when i go to the shows and see mint cars i have no idea how its possible to keep it like that. after a good thrashing i usually spend half hour-an hour drying and cleaning it again but thats still not enough. i guess thats why these concours cars never get driven
Retro-gone. Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 i never try getting my engine bay or the underneath of my car up to concours scratch cos i wouldnt ever use it, i do wax the paint a lot cos it helps keep salt ay bay living on the coast, interior is always clean cos i dont smoke or eat in the car .
antz Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I give mine a wash (ive only ever polished it once), to keep the bay clean i just go over it with a damp cloth and then a soft cotton cloth to buff up the paint. as for oil leaks i dont bother cos the block is black. it hides the shit inside i just vacuum. then again when i do wash the car it has been known to take me 3 hours to do inside, outside, boot, and under the bonnet
Conor Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 Mine gets a real good clean and polish the day before CF show. It'll only get jetwashed after that until the following year. You can either use it or spend all weekend polishing it then not want to use it cos it'll get mucky.
Takeshi Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I spend numerous hours on mine if I give it the full inside and out... First I hose the car down, then under the arches and sometimes the bottom of the car... Wash it, dry it off, polish it, dress the vinyl and plastics, tire gel, glass polish. Vaccum the inside, polish the dash and do the windows.. Over the top or no...?

trakevlyn Posted July 12, 2008 Report Posted July 12, 2008 I spend about 2-3 hours before a show cleaning mine, chamois it down with a buckrt of plain water polish, it and use the polishing rag to do under the bonnet. Then polish all the crome/ally rims, then clean tyres and interior with vinyl cleaner. Thats why the wife refers to the escort as the mistress as i spend more time fiddling with it than her
