lotusless Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 as above did you hear last week that google earth allready have cars out with camera's fitted taking images of the streets. to show you the roads in close up! not only really bad if you've got your osf on your driveway but the burglars will be loving it too. they have it in the usa i think but this has to be bad surely? anyone hear anymore about it? is it deffo gonna happen?
FredTransit Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 I heard about it, and if it's true I don't like it. Big security problem. Huge.
Chris! Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 you can see our red mk1 cortina parked on our drive on google earth
caprinerd Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 you can see my red capper and wifes 306 but resprayed the capper 2 years ago and the wife got rid of the 306 about the same time
FredTransit Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 You can see some of our vans on google earth, but there's not much i can do about that (the pics are a couple of years out of date as caprinerd said)
razersedge Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 the one for my area was taken on a saturday or sunday because my car is round my mates house being worked on and on my drive the fiesta is still cream not blue
Trevmk3 Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 the pics of where i live on google maps is ages old, probably 7 or 8 years old theres loads of stuff that isnt there anymore and they were there being knocked down when i was 16-17
FredTransit Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 The thing is, if they bring out Google streets in the UK the pics will have to be 'fresh' and that's when the damage will be done.
Trevmk3 Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 yeah, it will be the ideal oppertunity for thieving scumbags to see where all your stuff is or what stuff you may have stored outside
Tracey Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 the pics of where i live on google maps is ages old, probably 7 or 8 years old theres loads of stuff that isnt there anymore and they were there being knocked down when i was 16-17 I agree, it still has a pic of my house with a blue car on the drive, how old is that!!!!!!!!, haven't had a blue car for years I agree close ups of streets are a bad idea!
Chelle Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Microsoft have already done this So they've already done it for something else without you knowing about it
lotusless Posted July 15, 2008 Author Report Posted July 15, 2008 thats the thing they are filming now so will be up to date
Chelle Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 they're only a little behind microsoft doing it so i hasten to add that most of everyones cars and houses shall pretty much be the same! Also if you have an HD pc monitor you can actually zoom in to good enough quality on the normoal google maps to do any naughtiness that they'll be tryin off google earth in 3d!!!
Chelle Posted July 15, 2008 Report Posted July 15, 2008 Plus it will take them ages to do every street in the country therefore it will take them a very long time to rollout this new google earth, so u have plenty of chance to buy a new OSF
Smudger105e Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 I could be outside in my smalls Or even less, sunbathing The image on Google earth shows our house as just foundations, so that makes the image almost 9 years old...
FredTransit Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Yeah but if this comes off, Google Streets won't be using old pics, cos they have to take them.
Chelle Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 No but by the time they've done the pics of every single street and roll it out the pics will be ancient again
FredTransit Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 true, some time will pass but it won't be years I am sure!
X-pack-Glyn Posted July 16, 2008 Report Posted July 16, 2008 Yeah pic must have been taken ages ago as the wife is bent right over in her tankini feeding the rabbit, and the rabbit died ages ago.
