Police Community Support Officers (PCSOs)

I dont hate my current job (warehouse team leader), its always a challenge but can be quite 'enjoyable' at times. its just that its not something i can see myself doing in another 5 years time. the fact that theres gonna be nearly 300 redundancys coming up over the next 2 years might not give me the option to be here for another 5 years anyway

 

so ive been having a look around, see what there is. and i came across PCSO's. I actually wouldnt mind applying (printed me a form off ready) as the money isnt bad and from what i read, its not like you get sent on all the shitty jobs and you dont have half the powers of a 'real' officer. which is why you dont get sent on the shitty jobs. (shitty as in sent to break a bar fight up kinda thing, the nasty stuff)

 

im sure people will have negative and positive experiences with PCSO's.... lets here em

Its always good to look at your options mate , especially in todays current employment climate.....but a PCSO , why not a real Plod

 

PSCO"s alright i suppose , as long as you don"t mind mindless chav scum takin the p*ss out of you

my ex gf used to hate them and slagged the fook outta them all the tiem cos her mum is a proper police doris.

 

We have one in our local village and he is a dead nice guy and actually does good.

 

i once saw him making a kid clean up the local skatepark with a brush cos the kid had been burning newspaper there.

 

He always stops for a chat about the old cars and once told me off for revving too much through the village

 

and he keeps the local traffic in check by humiliationg people who park on doule yellow lines and go to the shops. so bloody funny when he does it

Theres three types of community support officer.

 

The first do it because its a job. They might enjoy it or they might see it as just a job, nothing more.

 

The second lot absolutely LOVE doing it and enjoy helping the community. Theyd probably do it for free and these are the ones who are genuinely great people.

 

The third group are purely on a power high. Maybe theyre too stupid to be a proper bobby. Or they where bullied in school and want to make up for it by being a #@+? to others. Im sure you get what im going for here.

 

Unfortunately most are the latter type. I just hope youll be one of the first two. They do have a bad rep, especially around my way where they are about as usefull as a box of laxatives on a 24 hour plane journey, yet they think they are the absolute dogs danglies and ARE the law, but im sure theyre not all that bad.

id be interested in joining the police but to be honest ive never had a job with such responsibilitys so dont know how id handle it. As PCSO's dont have the same authority as a regular officer, im thinking it would be a better place to start with intention of signing up later when ive had a taste of it. Assuming the accept me in the first place that is.......

 

if i had it my way idve joined the army when i left school. Or the fire brigade a few years later as a family friend is a station chief willing to write me a reference, but as an asthmatic i cant join either.

Go for it... one of the lads at work does it in his spare time! Absolutly loves it!

 

PCSO's come in and see us at work all the time coming to look at CCTV and all that... generally nice people! Sounds quite interestin too
