did it decide to break where the front of the rear arch is, as that is where mine went last year. think it rots there as its where all the salt and water goes . its the same on mk4 astras as it happened on the one of them i had aswell :lol:

its a mk6 escort it bends up over the rear beam then its gone from just where it kicks down again so at least any flamage is pointed at the ground and not the fuel tank

where abouts are you mate and is it an original ford immobiliser?

state the obvious first though... have you changed the battery (on the fob)?

the battery is nothin to do with the imobiliser if its a ford one :? ,

well if it is an original ford immobiliser then no it doesn't need a battery, but i don't know if it is or not. some after market immobilisers are turned off when you press the fob button, like most early land rovers are. these need batteries, obviously.

if it was an original ford immobiliser then the chip in the head of the key would 'talk' directly to the ignition ring and bla bla bla

it'd probably be on an F021P tibbe blank if i'm not wrong.......

____

did a bit of research cos i know fook all about escorts

mark 6 is about a P reg so that would be about a 1997?

in that case it is fitted with a factory ford immobiliser and the chip might've gone or something, do the other keys work?

Mines a rover.... and yes I've changed the batt!! My mate is taking the fob to work to test it today, if it's fooked I have to buy a code from Rover to disable the bloody immobiliser
