sitting_budda Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 Have been ringing around trying to find some new leaf springs as mine (1970 mk1, so early rear setup!!) have seen better days and no one seems to have anything in stock. CD8s have been recommended as the ones to go for, but havent had any luck finding any. All I can only seem to find is mk2 single leafs and mk2 single decambered leafs. Im planning on fitting some 15" wheels to improve cruising speeds with a 4.1 lsd, so decambered springs are really arent an option. Especially as im planned on the doing 40th anniversary cruise in the france this september so will be carrying luggage in the boot. (female partners tend to pack everything including the kitchen sink!!!) I have been offered some capri 2.8i single leaf springs which look relatively new, and i trust the source. Will these fit? I know the ends need to be cut down so that they fit inside the mk1 mounts, but will there be any other issues?? Will there be any handling issues?? The theory being that a 2.8i capri is a heavy beast so they should be more than up to supporting a mk1 escort.
glenbo Posted July 24, 2008 Report Posted July 24, 2008 years ago i put capri rear springs on my mk1 and i bolted the front first and then jacked the rear off the spring up whilst a jack in the middle off the spring pushing down end result was it looked like the car had a 2" jack up kit on it still you learn from your mistakes capri springs are longer
