Retro-gone. Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 ive got the 20's engine from a MK3 capri, the block has the 205 in big numbers, which carb will it be? i cant see any numbers that resemble 32/36 or whatever. there are 2 little alloy plates with a few digits on. i need to know cos i want to order a pankake filter and a carb rebuid kit.
Jimbob-Squarepants © Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 I think that is a 28/36 DGAV. It was the standard fitment to 2.0S Capri's and 2.0 S1erra's. I fitted one to my Capri years ago *edit* There should be markings on the flange (where the studs come through from the manifold) which will say exactly what it is. I think it's somewhere near the mixture screw
5hane Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 very nice retro get it painted up and in there
Retro-gone. Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 gonna take my time with it and rebuild it with new gaskets and seals, paint it and get some chroming done, il fit it throughout the winter cos i need to respray the whole engine bay too. seems a good unmolested motor, has the original little spreaders that clamp the rocker cover down, just little things like that, thanks to duchy boy for this, hes a good honest lad and didnt charge daft money for the engine or transporting it, and ive never seen packaging like it!! cheers mark if your out there
Retro-gone. Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 bang on mate, just found the id marks, 32/36 dgav
Beakster Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 Hey, When you get the rebuild kit they'll give you an exploded diagram with it. Its really scary how many bits there are! Don't let it put you off though. Have a look here http://www.fordcaprilaser.co.uk/carburettor_overhaul.htm Thats a step by step guide to overhauling the carb with a kit. Just take it step by step and its easy. Good luck.
Retro-gone. Posted August 1, 2008 Author Report Posted August 1, 2008 ive stripped and refurbed many a carb, specially 4bank bike carbs so il be ok ta
Copey Posted August 1, 2008 Report Posted August 1, 2008 if your gonna go through the effort od re-buildin a carb, get a DGAS and rejet is while your at it!!
