ok, ive finnaly saved enought money to buy afew bits for the harrier

and i was wondering if it would be worth buying a anti - tramp kit and a panhard rod kit for it. at the moment being a sport shell all it is is leafs and shocks... not very good lol.

i think anti tramp bars i think i will definatly get, are there any bad points to them ? (burton / rally design kit)

but i am unsure of the panhard kit, is there much wealding and lining up ect (Are they fiddly to fit) or is it quite straight forward to fit? is it worth doing, im having a conversation with my dad, he dont think it is worth it.. and adding bits like this to my car is a bit sacralige. (its a burton / rally design kit)

thanks :D:thumbsup:

Panhard will make a difference mate, should help alot when cornering, I 5 linked mine coz i dont like leaf's but panhard is a good place to start especially if your anti tramping it too. Think about getting a slipper too.

Sounds like a bloody good plan mate!

To give you a heads up, get the adjustable tower panhard as its much easier to line up before welding. Remember to place the axle and car body dead level and have the axle in its resting position (i.e jack it up under the axle and not the car) Then make sure the panhard rod is parrallel to the axle before tack welding then check again before final welding.

What is a panhard rod kit and what does it do? pics?

Panhard rod runs parrallel to the rear axle and basically stops the axle from moving sideways.

the other (more costly but superior option) is watts linkage which is to rods either side of the centre pushing against each other, this allows the axle to move up and down in a straight line as opposed to the panhard which because it is linked on one side allows the axle to arc slightly. dont have pictures sorry, check out some old classic ford issues. :ykt:

 thanks m8  i thought rather than go crazy on the engine il get all the really important bits done 1st, then when i go [part time / full time work ill start building up the engine and get it resprayed :D:thumbsup:

mk1rob:

The Panhard Rod restricts sideways movement of the axle under heavy cornering conditions, is essential when 4-Link Kit is fitted but can be fitted on its own. Available as an adjustable kit to suit rally height vehicles or a fixed height kit for race height vehicles.

If you think ahead and are thinking later on you want to add 4link boxes/ full on 5link set up! I wouldnt put the anti tramp bars in, i would jus got and 5link it as the anti tramp bar bracket live where the 4link boxes go so you would have the hassle later cutting the braket back out again.

hope this helps

definatly fit anti tramp bars (helps stops the homeless from coming near your car lol) and a panhard rod you will notice a huge differance, personaly i would buy the antitramp kit from gs escort as they will supply it with original bar for a more well original look

Same heare mate !! I have fitted a anti tramp kit and a panhard rod kit to my mk2 this time. In my opinion its all thats needed on a fast road car to make a vast improvment in the handeling. 5 linking is a bit over the top for a road car !!!
