I know its probably a well covered subject but are they worth it? Do they really crak-can u prevent this? is the weight saving over the front end worth it-on a capri?

mines cracked like hell. If you spray it satin black and don't mind it looking abit ruff then go for it. If you want it to look as good as a standard bonnet don't

On a Capri, that's a hell of a lot of bonnet. I imagine you could help it not cracking by fibreglassing some ally strips [say about 15-20mm wide by 2mm thick] around the edges and crossing the middle? Give it a bit more rigidity without adding too much weight.

Yeah, alright for you to say when you can still get steel panels for your motor at a reasonable price, but when a pair of wings for, say, a mk1 tina/escort are upwards of £300 EACH, well... not everyone's got the money to be picky.

Sorry guys I worded my first post wrong.

I can understand wings etc (the price of steel oens are mad!)

SORRY PEOPLE...PLEASE ACCEPT MY APOLOGIES

What I intended to say what that I think fbreglass bonnets suck. My dad has one on his mk1 and its horrible.

Apology accepted. :mrgreen::P

Admittedly, I'm not keen on f/glass bonnets [rather have ally or painted c/fibre due to f/glass ones being very flimsy imho], but if it was all I could get hold of, I think I'd put up. :thumbsup:

I have fibre glass wings and a fibre glass bonnet.

Seriously, if you are worried about a little bit of cosmetic "wear and tear" i.e cracks then dont get one, but i personally think the benefits of saving that much weight is worth it. Especially on a capri! those things are HUGE!!!
