After breaking the car and calling the AA out about a month ago, i was told it was the carb, so i changed it, still didn't work, put the old one back on after cleaning it today. worked great so went to get petrol, filled it up and stalled it just out of the station, wouldn't restart, so just got towed back by the AA,

only got 3 more callouts allowed this year now,

but at least i didn't have to use my new petrol.

just pissed off now as i thourght it was all working fine again, the AA said its not sparking correctly and the points are burnt out, i think im going to change the points condensor and coil next week,

would anyone recommend changing anything else?

old engines are simple.

points and condencer in one. replace the cap and HT leads.

if the sparkplugs are in good nick keep em, (look in middle of haynes for this)

shouldnt have any problems after that!

all an engine needs is air+fuel+compression&spark =)

thanks.

caps leads, plugs are all new, the starter motor is now broken i think its missing a few theth, after all this trying to get it to start.

but there should b an xe going in, in the next month or two, so i think ill just leave it now, i dont want to keep putting money into this old engine.
