DAZZA Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 Is there any difference between 2.8 & 3.0 struts? Ive taken a set is what are believed to be 2.8 Billies apart for a coil over conversion. The inserts are basically upside down,ie the cylinders are at the top. The strut casing has a hole at the bottom for the insert thread to go through. The insert has threads both ends. But on the picture build up im following for 3.0 legs, the insert only has threat at the top of the shaft? I have 3.0 legs on the front of mine but have not taken them aprt yet. So basically are there any differences between the two?
tim Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 yea there 2.8 legs you got there, different to others ,like usaid the inserts are upside down
DAZZA Posted August 24, 2008 Author Report Posted August 24, 2008 cheers tim, I hope they match up with all the steering compnants I had with the 3L legs?
doyle Posted August 24, 2008 Report Posted August 24, 2008 yeah they have different hubs-i got some group1 capri struts but they are off of a 3.0, had to fit 3.0 hubs but the steering arms and calipers all mount up okay
Twinkle Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 How do the hubs differ? the discs on the 3.0 ones bolt to the hub through the front face of the hub whereas the normal ones bolt from behind, the size of the hole that mounts to the stub axle is also different so you cant just swap the hubs over. brake discs for the 3.0 are also getting scarce i had to get my pitted 3.0 discs off my escort skimmed by a local engineering company as i couldnt find any reasonably priced repacements
