CapperTom Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Hi, was after some advice on electric fuel pumps, i know the little facet square ones sort of tick when there pumping but does this go all the time, also do the cylinder ones still do it? i dont really want a pump thats noisy. Thanks Tom
over_head_cam Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 The red tops have a low pitch hum, but you don't really hear it after a while. You could always get a louder exhaust
mk2 stu Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 Your worried about the noise of the pump, Why not place it in the boot? Or insulate it?
livewire7116 Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 mount it on the outside under the boot floor with a shield over it
fezza Posted August 25, 2008 Report Posted August 25, 2008 I have a cylinder type facet and yes the do get a bit knocky from time to time, not sure weather or not this is down to the pump not being able to keep up with the engine ?
vibrating_Cake Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 I have a cylinder type facet and yes the do get a bit knocky from time to time, not sure weather or not this is down to the pump not being able to keep up with the engine ? i have the same and my pump has no problem at all keeping up with the engine. although it does make a loud buzzing noise.... but when the engine is on... you cant hear it, so no problems
livewire7116 Posted August 26, 2008 Report Posted August 26, 2008 ive seen a solid state pump keeping a 235bhp xe working on 48s with no worrys
TwoLitrePinto Posted August 27, 2008 Report Posted August 27, 2008 had manual pump on my pinto and it was running 130bhp if that, i used to boot it in 3rd for about 10seconds before it effectively "ran out" of petrol, pull over for 30 seconds, let it tick over and she would be fine again! just put the electric one under the car at the back, if you can mount it on a piece of rubber or something so it doesnt vibrate through the floor. you wont even know its there once its running.
