Depending on the reliability and fuel economy of my new engine i may have to look into towing/trailering my mk1 to the OSFDC next year(its over 500 miles round trip for me). I have seen in some of the pics posted in OSFDC sections that some people tow their cars behind a van or whatever. Do they use a towing bar?? where do you stand with the law im guessing the car must be road legal as its on the tarmac still???

 

Also open to any other suggestions.

 

Theres another BUT though towing it with my scooby is probably going to use even more petrol than the twin 45 fuelled zetec on the cards. Plus i dont really want a tow bar if i can help it.

 

Seems im just not easily satisfied but any ideas on how you chaps do it would be muchly appreciated.

I transport my fez on the back on my flatbed mk2 transit. Although with a 2l pinto under the bonnet it's not that economical.

 

But at some ford shows the transit gets more looks than the fiesta on the back of it :lol::lol:

As far as i am aware m8 , if the car being towed is on a dolly or a-frame with 2 or more wheels on the tarmac it must be MOT/TAXED . If its on a trailer then T + T not required .

However , i did hear that if you run in the OSFDC or a Run-wot-you brung car is supposed to be road legal.....

I"m sure someone else on here will clarify that for you :lol:

Doesn't need tax if its on a dolly, if only two wheels are on the road its classed as a trailer, you'll need a tail light bar and duplicate number plate from the tow car though :D

i think a trailer and a towing vehicle is the way forward.

 

i have a trailer and whislt currently using a vauxhall omega estate, i intend to buy either a toyota land cruiser, mirtsubishi pajero/shogun or an isuzu big horn/citation.
