ment to keep the bay cooler though i doubt it would make a difference in a road car, most people put it on because it looks good

Squadge did post up a thread a while ago, but its not a well known show on here, if it was "all escorts" day it probably would be, i found out about it through my local club, it was a dead small show last year, but squadge has drummed up a lot of interest for it this year so looks like it could be a good turn out

pro's and cons,, iv seen some 4-1 manifolds wrapped and some not, whats the score with it?

I was talking to Dave/cortinamad about this at scotch corner. He said that people have problems, cos if the car is driven in the rain, water will get into the wrap. It can stay damp and rot through the manifold. I'd fancied getting some, but after hearing that I wont be.

i painted mine with high temp paint, then wrapped it to stop it rotting underneath the wrap.

looks the nutts too mate, but dont buy cheap stuff, iv done this before and within a week the wrap had fallen to bits, get thermo-tec stuff from ebay:thumbsup:

cannae reccomend exhaust manifold wrap too highly, i havent had problems with rotting etc as the car is used daily and the manifold has about 8 layers of high temp paint under the wrap lol.

but the amount of difference it makes is unbelieveable!

before i used it the buldge on the bonnet (after a good ol' run around of "spirited" driving, was too hot to touch!!!

also when in traffic after about 30mins the same thing happened, bonnet too hot to touch!

i didnt want to find out how much more the bonnet paint could take, so i decided to whack some on the manifold.

n bloody hell, the difference it makes is unbelieveable!

really good difference, and quietens down the rumble from the tubular manifold quite well too!

and the "cracking manifolds" is all about CAST STANDARD manifolds not tubular manifolds.

and those manifolds on TURBO engines which actually hold the turbo up aswel as act as a tunnel for gas. wont crack open a pinto 4-2-1.... never did mine neway, and that got some abuse!!!
