I am wanting to change the DB in my house as its pretty old.

I currently have an PME supply into an ELCB then into the DB.

The electrician suggested a modern DB protected by an RCD which is what I wanted as I cant get the current db to trip which is slighly worrying. (Socket got soaked in water recently and didnt blow a fuse, just melted slightly!)

The thing I am concerned about is his suggestion of using an Earth stake for the earth, if the supply is PME i would expect an earth to be included, I know the earth and neutral are the same on these but surely I should have an earth point where the incoming cable terminates?

Feck knows, the supply comes from my neighbours house, well it runs around the back of his house then along mine so must stop on the way.

I guess it must be an overhead supply unless its been converted somewhere further back down the chain.
