mk1 escort gear box

i changed the sppedo cable on my escort after which i jacked the back of the car up to make sure every thing was ok and when i put the car in to gear on tick over there is this clunking noise coming from the gearbox or the diff if i give it some throtle it stops it dosent do it when i drive along but if i drive a long realy slow i can hear a clicking noise any ideas

is the speedo working? try disconecting the cable see if the new cables damaged, or it could be a worn uj
