iv been toying with the idea of starting my own car meet in the merseyside area, iv found a couple of decent venues, but im just wondering what everyone thinks will make a good car meet and great car meet.

whats essential? loads of parking?, refreshments?, booze?, food?, somewhere to light your tyres up without getting told off by the fuzz,

what time, day, dates, are best. weekend day? week night?.

how often do you think? monthly, weekly?

also if i can sort this out, who's game for coming, just trying to get an idea of venue size.

any input would be appreciated,

thanks in advance tom

good idea mate  , ive been goin tot he manchester meets for a few years now and look forward to em :) a merseyside one wud be good aswell :D . i know a few who wud be interested  . best not to clash with manc meets tho which are on the 1st and 3rd thursday of each month.

best tryin to cover as many bases as poss i think with regards to the venue :? . a pub is essential  , one that does food is a bonus and/or as close to mcdonalds or similar as poss. also easily accessable and not in the depths of a ruff area  . somewhere that meets all these criteria plus has facility for burnouts and stuff is quite hard to find, and i dont think meets will last long with loads of osf creatin plumes of tyre smoke and drfitin round roundabouts etc, the cops or local residents/buisness dont appreciate it the same way we do  after the manc meets, everyone always has a little play and durin sometimes the odd burnout takes place, but they have been using the same pub for years so are quite well established with the staff there

I go to 2 regular meets in yorkshire. One is the massive scotch corner meet, which is all fords, theres a lot of cars 25-100 normally come, and its once every 2 months. The other is redback, old fords and any old rides, its an old transport cafe, much smaller with usually 6-12 cars, and theres a good quality food. A bar isnt too essential and most folks with be driving and hopefully wont want alcohol. If you start doing wheelspins and handbrake turns you'll end up with police there straight away. Then you'll need to decide if you want a summer meet or one that runs all year long. A big car park is usefull if you want to keep all the cars together in one area. Maybe its worth asking who owns the venue if its ok to have the meet, and let them know every month what day its happening

looks good chris

iv been thinking of places to hold it, iv come up with a couple of places but out of them all i think that the otterspool pub would be a good one. easy to find 10mins from the major motorways, huge car parks with 2 or 3 more on the front, good cheap food and drink, charlie chalks for the kids, out the way enough to not get gangs of kids all over the cars, and most importantly theres a couple of long straights with a couple of roundbouts

as for cars, im not looking to have only old skool fords, just anything old or different, iv got mates with manta's, talbots, hotrods ect ect and i think its good to have a mix of cars. so chris your mates are welcome, but not saxo's, neons, bass bins or any of that shite, if that shite does try and join in it will get pushed down the hill into the mersey

as for dates im thinking doing it on the alternate nights to the manc meet.

i was also thinking of starting the meet at around the same time but at the albert dock/echo arena, and then leave there about 9 and cruise in convoy to the otterspool pub about 1.5 mile away. people can meet at either place. we used to do this at a hotrod meet we used to attend in preston, good way to break up the meet and see the cars on the road with the odd smokey tyred junction exit

opinions and any more feedbgack would be appreciated.

i also need and idea of numbers/cars.

thanks

tom
