Paul F Posted November 28, 2006 Report Posted November 28, 2006 I was mucking about with my escort tonight and noticed that the roof was a bit....well....floppy. I assumed it was something to do with a dent, as other parts of the car are missing the required amounts of rigidity due to stretched metal! But then I looked over at my dad's escort, and running from one side to the other accross the middle of the roof on the inside there is like a strengthening panel, which mine does not seem to have! They're both 2 door mk2 escorts, so you'd think they'd be the same... I can only assume this strengthening panel would give me the firm roof i desire.... Can anyone offer any light on this subject, or maybe where I could get one?!
mk1mexico Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 you would be surprised how much stronger it seems with a headlining in mate
Gareth Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 M8, My mk1 doesn't have that strengthener, but my m8's mex does. When he did his roof skin, the donor roof he got which was a 4 door had it too.... I dont think all escy's came with 'em
Paul F Posted November 29, 2006 Author Report Posted November 29, 2006 Thanks for your replies... I might have a pokey around my 4 door and see if that has one i can pinch! The plan is to have headlining (although I've heard it's a bastard to fit), so hopefully that'll sort it out...
Tom Posted November 29, 2006 Report Posted November 29, 2006 mate, i think it was just the earlier mk2's and rs's that had them. mines a 75 and has one and it was only a pop
Paul F Posted November 29, 2006 Author Report Posted November 29, 2006 my dad's is a 75, mine's a 79 pop which is probably why it's sans strengthener...
