5 speed box in a mk1 capri

im wanting to put a five speed gearbox into my mk1 capri,which has a 2ltr pinto engine already fitted . Ive brought a 5 speed box but im not sure wot prop i need to use ??? or any other bits ???

5 speed laser prop and modified gearbox xmember (mk3,4,5 tina one can help)

you can borrow one off my escort and see if that fits mate thats got a five speed fitted

I was told a 2.8 capri prop fits.

Haven't tried it yet.

escort prop too short!!

 

2.8i one will fit but any laser one will & be cheaper!

my pre-facelift has a 2L Pinto and a five speed box. The prop is a 2 piece 2l prop off the same donor car although it also runs a MK3 axle. Had it running for 4 years now. Good economy, good cruising (2700 at 70mph) and fast enough for me. The gearbox x member I made by welding some angle iron to the existing gearbox x member and drilling some mounting holes to mate up to the existing holes in the gearbox tunnel. I didn't fancy moving the mounts as I thought at some stage I would want to swap back to standard x flow and 4 speed box - so far I am having too much fun.
