Lukey48screamer Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Just wonder if anyone can shed me some light on this one... whats the smallest/slimmest standard size battery you can get without buying a varley or spending a hundred quid on one? I will be fitting the battery into the boot of my escy but dont want it to take up all the room as I want plenty left for possibly spare wheel post, bmx, missus shopping or whatever... Any advice and/or *PICS* will be greatly appreciated, cheers peeps

Toby Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 There is a battery comparrison in Classic Ford mag this month. Three come out tops - Optima Red Top - £135 Platinum Energy 038 - £35 from www.ukbatteries.co.uk And the best in their mind - Varta Silver Dynamic D21 - £84 www.varta.com Non of these are tiny though - be carefull in your quest for tiny you don't create a car for yourself that wont start!!
Ken B Posted November 20, 2008 Report Posted November 20, 2008 I can help you there as i had a similar problem after fitting a Zetec in my Anglia but wanted to retain original batt position in the front. I found this little beaut, kicks out 115AH and gas cold start ability of 900A and is smaller dimensionally than a Mini 038 or Ford 037. Starts my Zee no problem and is of the sealed type. Scroll down page to the Westco sealed battery. I have also seen them at some race car part shops but these guys are far cheapest. http://www.carbatteryshop.co.uk/sc-Numa ... -I219.html

Ken B Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 When I scroll down to the Westco sealed battery and click more info the spec says "31Ah and 500A" - what am I missing? Me hitting the wrong button didn't think it sounded right when i typed it. I clicked on the spec for battery above it. should have been 31ah and 500a starting as you said which isn't bad for its size. Certainly had no problems with it so far.
Toby Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Certainly had no problems with it so far. Proof of the pudding is how well it starts (and how it tastes)
Ken B Posted November 21, 2008 Report Posted November 21, 2008 Have to say I wasn't sure 100% it would be up to the job, when i first bought it, but it was the biggest output for it size i could find, and i'm assured size is, sorry isn't everything
