antz Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 itll be loud, cold and uncomfortable. but it will save weight. ona daily driver i wouldnt do it
caprinerd Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 have striped mine out will post some pics tomoz no carpet no heater and its my daily driver as well the main prob i have is clearing the screen inside and keeping it cleared
D4N Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 I really dont see why people take the heater out of a car. People take them out a rally car and then complain that they cant see cos the windosws have steamed up I would leave everything in if its a daily.
NeilT Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 i think is a cracking plan mainly thats because thats where mins going to end up lol
TwoLitrePinto Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 i stripped out my daily driver apart from dash, front seats and door cards. all the back and carpet was out, suprising how much stuff they can fit in the back of a capri, it is much louder i gotta say, but what a difference, u know when u got 2 people in your car and it feels slow, and on your own it feels faster, its like taking another person out! and u got to love the noise anyway! oh yeah i forgot, if it wasnt arse endy enough, its even better when u got no weight in the back
lee_capri Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 have striped mine out will post some pics tomoz no carpet no heater and its my daily driver as well the main prob i have is clearing the screen inside and keeping it cleared f**k that roger get your self a superser in the boot i could'nt drive a car with no heater

OldskoolSue Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 I must say Rog your cars looking the dogs dangleys loving it long time top job
Savvi Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 I think you can get heated front screens for most cars now ? I know i saw them advertised for a mk1 escort before.
bmxdave Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 My last two cars have been properly gutted and i reckon its the best. The noise and cold and smell isnt such a big issue really, afterall, its half the point of owning an old car. The performance and fuel benefit is well worth it too. Only issue is speaking to passengers, but at the end of the day the cars for YOU and not your passengers. I never had heaters and it can be annoying but its not the end of the world, just be ready to wipe alot!
SAF_Capri Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 you can buy a heated screen for them now.
Conor Posted December 14, 2008 Report Posted December 14, 2008 What is the bar across the back for? A strut brace? If you want to get rid of weight get shut of it because a strut brace on the rear of a car running on leaf springs is about as pointless as it gets. X-frame it instead.

If you want to get rid of weight get shut of it because a strut brace on the rear of a car running on leaf springs is about as pointless as it gets. X-frame it instead. Thats Right to an extent but i think itd still make a difference in torsional rigidity. Its not a strut brace anymore, just a brace.
caprinerd Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 lol its not a strut brace lol, its a cut down bunk bed leg and i was going to use it as a harness bar but aint going to bother but aint taken it out yet and as for the wieght it wieghs less than a spare wheel board that covers the spare it aint fixed in i only placed it in, but like i said changed my mind but aint taken it out yet
Messenjah Posted December 15, 2008 Report Posted December 15, 2008 thank fook you changed your mind harness bars should be made from musch stronger stuff then a cut down bunkbed leg
vibrating_Cake Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 lol its not a strut brace lol, its a cut down bunk bed leg and i was going to use it as a harness bar but aint going to bother but aint taken it out yet and as for the wieght it wieghs less than a spare wheel board that covers the spare it aint fixed in i only placed it in, but like i said changed my mind but aint taken it out yet
