Gonzo Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 It's a YB Turbo - so there SmokeEm.... you win a cup cake! Its a stage 3 YB, it doesnt get my balls twitching but it will be fast!! Power to pound... you just cant beat the turbo YB!! I cant wait to get it running and i am aiming for March! Woooosh, Tssssssss ! Won't be able to keep up with my new bike though.
sambo Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 Sam love a YB turbo, but your car was crying out for a screaming N/A Cosworth...But you will have fun, just need to sort out the axle and gearbox tunnel... Big smiles and opposite lock on the way Mark, dont rub it in!.. i really wanted a N/A YB but i just coulnt spend that kind of money! My axle should be able to cope (atlas) and the tunnel was built around a T5, so things should be relatilvley straight forward, although i dont know what the fook all the electronic gubbings is etc. It will be a learning curve for me installing this engine but thatsm what places like this is for! I hope to have it up and running asap and cant wait to whoop Gonzo on his bike (and my mate in his 5.7ltr cobra........ !!) Cheers all for the interest! i'll probably put a post in the projects room as i do it. Apparently i need a swirl pot, lift pump, injection pump a thing called an intercooler and all sorts of modern crap? Now where did i leave me weber 48's??? ...............
D4N Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Good luck mate. There is no point in going for an engine you can not aford! Can't wait to see it going

Now where did i leave me weber 48's??? ............... 4 or 5 wires to wire it up cant remember, Swirl pot, Cossie fuel pump, You can buy them cradle second hand...Rad and intercooler cheapest i believe is XSpower and fits straight in? 48`s Mmm ebay calling or keep them just in case lol, Try and get a 2wd loom as its in 1 piece . 4x4 loom is in 2 pieces, usually find them on Alcoholics Anonymous. Level 6/8 ecu will work depending on TPS ect Loads of people can point you in the right direction. Kev has done loads of conversions and can wire it up in a day if you have everything:wink:
sambo Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Heyoop Mark, i got a L6 ECU and a 2wd loom (i think). i'll be getting a radtec intercooler and rad in one soon too. Really all i need then is a prop (what do most use? Custom?) and an exhaust. Do people use the 2wd down pipe from the turbo in mk1's and mk2's?

My prop was from recon prop, it was a heavy duty and custom size because my engine was moved back 2 inches My downpipe was also custom when got my full exhaust done,i think you can use a cosworth downpipe and system just needs modifying

Get a prop made as you only have to do it once, your old one might just need modding. And the 2wd downpipemod that, bit if straight pipe odd bend back box happy days Red and gold rocker cover? lol

Also, when i change the sump, will i need to change the pick up pipe or are they both the same? As for the red and gold cam cover.... Nah! i will be making this engine as un-bling as possible. I am not a bufty boy and will be doing it in satin, crackle black finish, probably with no writing on it! I may clean some parts up a little but i wont be stripping it and deffo not polishing it all up!! I cant wait to get her up and running though, i think i may actually be more excited about this than i would be if i had a 220bhp N/A cossie! Whoosh.... tsssss!
Gonzo Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Poof. I won't repeat all the anti-turbo jibes you slung at me when I was thinking of what motor to drop in my tina. Think you can play those over in your own head. Still won't beat my new bike.
