stevepeanut Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 been looking around for deals as anyone reading my threads will know. Anyways, after lots of looking, turns out the suzuki dealer 2 miles from my house has one suzuki bandit 1250 left, at the bargain price of £4899, and its still unregistered too, unlike a lot of the pre registered bikes. His finance computer wasnt working properly, and kept adding on a gold level £20 a month protection that he says isnt worth the money. So gotta ring him on Monday when the finance people are open to get the right price, and the deal will be done
lee 1 Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 Sounds like a bargain mate, nice bikes too
Retro-gone. Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 nice one, this is my 1997 1200 bandit, dynojetted, big cams, k&n filter..
LEONMEX Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 fookin love a nice bandit i hope to get another bike this year, either a bandit or a hornet
stevepeanut Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 Nice bandit Tony. Thats my old S reg bandit, got it as cat c write off and fixed it up. Then added yoshi cams, D&D can, and junked the airbox, replacing it with twin K&Ns. Made 128bhp at the wheel. Later I chopped off the back end and got a geniune seat and subframe off a Ducati 916 and a long JMC swingarm, and got a custom exhaust link made.
stevepeanut Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 in the end I sold the bandit frame and kept everything else. I bought a gsxr 750 slabside frame (seriously light than the bandit steel one). All the oil cooled engines are the same, so the 1200 motor bolts straight into the gsxr ally frame. Bandit wheels/forks etc all go straight in too. Was mentally quick, and was up on the back wheel in first 3 gears. couldnt get a good price when I Wanted rid, so stripped it and sold the engine, then the rest as spares
Retro-gone. Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 i still like the old slabside frames, i polished one for a lad not so long back.
stevepeanut Posted January 17, 2009 Author Report Posted January 17, 2009 if you lift a slabby one in one hand and the bandit in the other, the weight difference is amazing. I still actually prefer the frame shape on your bandit Tony, to the new one I am getting. Its a touch too modern on the new one, the original one has much better lines where it runs under the tank
Retro-gone. Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 i agree mate, i do prefer the early models, cant believe mines 12 years old ! ive had all the Gs's and gsx's but no gsxr's, i prefer my bandit tho.. i had to cut an inch out the seatfoam and make some lowering plates, when i got it the arse end was way up in the air and im only a little lad lol, im paintin it soon in the old JPS colours
Retro-gone. Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 heres 2 of the fighters ive built in past 6 years, fz750 gpz1170, gsxr1100 front end & exup rear.. and this is the 1st fighter i built in 1990, gsx750ET.. built loads more for myself and other people but il have to scan the pics, weird that i ride an almost stock bike now eh.. i guess im gettin old and like the comfort lol.
mk1super Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 gsx750ET.. That is the fookin nuts Love the wheels its a got a Madmax thing going on Oh and nice fightered gixer steve If i had to have a suzuki it would be a Gixer 1100m with venom nose fairing Rgv seat unit proper old skool with stock paint scheme
LEONMEX Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 lovin them retro i had a fs1 in the same yellow & black colours for my first bike, was the fastest 50cc about 60 mph then got a rd125 that blew up all the time then a tzr125 with a stan stephens race engine my last was a cb1 streetfighter, but i got knocked off by an illegal immigrant & got a bit smashed up am saving my pennys hard for another bike though
stevepeanut Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 I love 2 strokes, I want another one. When the bandit comes I might sell my aprilia 1000. Spend the money from that on a nice smokin' stroker
Retro-gone. Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 yeah im a2stroke nut too steve, this is my current stroker, 1976 GT750 triple, im gonna paint it old sheene/texaco heron colours.. and these are 2 i restored and sold last year, 1976 suzuki GT500 twin 1976 Yamaha RD400C and heres a blast from the past, 1979, my rd400 and my mates X7 suzuki
DanV Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 im really not a fan of bikes but i must be honest, I do love bandits. I like the ducati monster as well! They both look tough as fook!
stevepeanut Posted January 18, 2009 Author Report Posted January 18, 2009 totally love the suzuki GTs, heres a few I bought and sold over the last 2 years. A 350 powervalve, got this off a mate at work after I sold the bandit/gsxr. really wanted to ride asap, and this needed work so sold it and bought a gsxr which was ready to ride also bought this nsr250, but it was utterly fooked and I couldnt find any spares to do it up, so sold it also bought this 750 turbo kawasaki a couple of years ago, it blew 2 turbos and was an utter nightmare, I was gutted cos it was my dream bike and it turned out so bad, got sold on at the moment I have the aprilia and I got a little kawasaki ae50 off my mate, was going to run it in the quarry but he found its original reg plate so I'm thinking of restoring it and putting it back on the road for a laugh. Its based on the ar50 they used to make
