Some really good pictures and cars. rally car mk1 escort 1300 back in 1975. Then when he started to get competitive he got a mk1 escort 2lt pinto and won the championship in that with his car now sponsored for the 1st time. 1979 1979 his local rally the shaw trophy (event still going and its at the end of this month, my dad doing it in the beemer and im out in a mk1 cortina) 1979 shaw trophy. Love the stories he tells me about this year. After 1979 car got rebuilt and sprayed red but with same sponsor. after 79 had a huge run of bad luck engine problems and fires. Ofcouse the od crash Went to start fresh and go with a mk2 escort Sold it to his mate Kevin Knox and he crashed it on its first outing Got another mk2 escort striped it and put a BDA in it. Cost him £10,000 in his own money in the early 80s and he hated the kept blowing pistons etc He did cource car for the RAC world rally in this car. Got to have a bit play in it knowing that Ari ari vatanen was next car My dad (in the car) looking very proud of his freshly built BDA escort. His mk1 gt cortina road car he loved this car. number plate KAL 333D. still about? Road going escort Jim Clarke rally when it was a forest event. was leading untill he got a puncture. Would of been his biggest win. Manx 1998
