stevepeanut Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 the starter motor on the auto, had 3 wires going into it. Red power wire from the battery, and 2 black wires, 1 spade connection and 1 small cap type connection. All 3 fitted to the end of the starter motor. red wire 2 black wires end of starter motor Heres a pic of the new starter motor for the manual box, it has only one connection on the end, I guess this is for the red wire? and I also got given this solenoid, which has a spade connection and little pole The 2 black wires could fix to this, but is this solenoid meant to be fixed to the starter somehow, or next to it on the wing? Anyone know how to wire this up?
kevmk2 Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 You probably would of been better off with a pre engaged starter, then all the wires would of fitted the same
cjay2004 Posted January 25, 2009 Report Posted January 25, 2009 if ur gonna use the pre-engaged make sure the ring gear on ur flywheel is matching? as pre-engaged and non pre-engaged are different? think pre-engaged x-flow flywheels are hard to get? but not 100% sure..
stevepeanut Posted January 25, 2009 Author Report Posted January 25, 2009 I think the one I took off the auto set up was pre engaged, this matched the torque converter that the autobox has instead of a fly wheel, looks like I'll have to figure the wiring out for this one
