grifterkid Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 As a huge fan of the Ford Capri and all things 1970's it was only natural that I should get myself one of these beauties... It is a 1978 3.0 Ghia Auto' in Jupiter Red with a Scarlet Red interior and it is all original. It is, in fact, one of the earliest Mk3's being registered in March '78, the first month of Mk3 production... It's a beast to drive and it is simply superb...!
NeilT Posted February 1, 2009 Report Posted February 1, 2009 top stuff very tidy m8 bet its proper fun
grifterkid Posted February 3, 2009 Author Report Posted February 3, 2009 nice any major plans Well I'm a bit of a fan of originality so my plans are to restore the car to as it once was back in 1978 when it was brand new... I've already fitted an original Ford radio/cassette player and I've also had to purchase a new (second hand of course!) dash board facia as the one that it came with had been cut for an awful modern stereo unit...! It needs some new panels and a complete respray so when the funds permit the work will begin... However it is more than useable at the moment and I am enjoying doing just that! Just the sound of that superb V6 engine is enough to put a smile on my face...
retrofordfan Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 That is one sweet Capri... Original is best I say, keep up the good work...!
rayman Posted February 18, 2009 Report Posted February 18, 2009 must be one of the last with the essex v6 lump.
Admin Vista Posted February 18, 2009 Admin Report Posted February 18, 2009 must be one of the last with the essex v6 lump. Nah. the essex was in the 3 litre S, it was in production up until the arrival of the 2.8i in 1981
retrofordfan Posted February 26, 2009 Report Posted February 26, 2009 Just had to have a quick look at this again as that colour is wonderful and Capri Ghia's are just so rare now... Have you got any big plans for it...? It seems that so many Capri's get mutilated beyond recognition these days with very little original kit left on them...! Anyhow, that is one good looking car, keep it on the road whatever you do...
grifterkid Posted March 1, 2009 Author Report Posted March 1, 2009 Today I gave my Capri a wash and brush up and took the opportunity to take some snaps of the, redder than red, interior... And a shot from up above...
