Jamsy Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Does everyone declare all their mods to insurance companies? My quotes are expensive enough without declaring all the mods!
LEONMEX Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 well worth declaring all your mods. Few years ago my mate got rear ended whilst parked up in an old mk2 xr-2 he was cut out of the car & passenger aswell as the car folded up. Car got taken away & put in compound where the insurance company went & looked at it,he got fook all as it had different wheels, lowered, tinted lights, strut brace, rear cage, big boom box in the boot as they said this was modified & affected the original structure & strength of the car. Aload of the round ones maybe but if it was all declared it would of cost him another £100 & he was on fo a payout of £5000 all in all.
Fiesta Steve Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 I've never found it makes a great difference, try phoning our new sponser's, they will do their best to give you a competitive price http://www.oldskoolford.co.uk/phpBB2/vi ... hp?t=95759
Jamsy Posted April 25, 2009 Author Report Posted April 25, 2009 Your probably right, I'll give them a ring and see what the difference is. I've got a n/a cossie lump in her but I was thinking the cc isnt much difference than the original RS2000 lump but its a non turbo so im going to have fun explaining the different engine to the person. I could give them a list as long as my arm with everything that has been done tho, from the lsd to the rollcage and all the other wee bits and pieces.
mk1mexico Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Well i was paying 500 quid for a standard 1100 escort mk1, now i have the lot declared, full ST170 conversion everything modified. its £171 now. With Adrian Flux.
emu Posted April 25, 2009 Report Posted April 25, 2009 Always declare everything. Insurance companies will use any excuse they can not to pay out, why give them extra reasons?? Like Steve, ive never found it makes that much difference to the premiums. Even when everything has been modified. If your insurance company find out then they can void your policy too. Then you can have a real drama trying to get insurance. Best advice for everyone is to always check you can get/afford the insurance before you do the mods
