Whos brilliant idea was it to call a 4 door escort a 'more door'?

 

Whats it got more doors than?..a house?..a people carrier?..the door section in B&Q?...Cos surely if its implyed its got more doors than a 2 door escort I can go round calling the 2 door 'disadvantaged access to the rear seat due to less doors escorts'? as thats technically what saying a 4 door is compared to a 2 door (using fewer words).

I'm 100% with Antz on this one. I love my 4 door car, its got 28k on the clock from new, is mint, and cost £2000. A 2 door in similar condition would be £5000 upwards. And just because its got only 2 doors like the rally cars. What makes the situation worse, is big magazines like like classic ford, calling their feature car "project more doors". So how come they dont say, heres a nice 4 door escort, oh and over here, its a "less door" 2 door escort. RetroTony makes a valid point, what at all difference does it make on a road car?

I dont think for a minute it is, but it does create a divide between owners, and the mags should show some responsibility

 

its a bit like the harley V jap bike thing, at the end of the day, bikers are all on 2 wheels, but theres a huge problem in the bike world, with harley guys calling "jap crap and rice burners" then the jap guys called "hardly dangerous" and a lot of it is the same, brought on by bike magazines pushing it

I like my more door four door Corty, it makes it a better "sleeper" and the front door hinges dont go saggy! the same thing exists with 2 door and 4 door Cortinas, it's just a matter of personal choice and what you can afford.....

i've found the boot a usfull way to enter my car particually when the central locking stops working, dam thing!

 

my opinions on the 4door/more door thing is:

maybe it's said to make the 4door sound less like a shopping cart,

or, its still an escort, but with more doors than the popular sporty models, hense "more door"

get a capri or a fezz then there's no agruing over doors!
